Main Features of the Gymenist Bench
The exercise bench from Gymenist has 6 adjustable back positions, 3 adjustable seat positions, and a 600-lb weight capacity. It can easily be adjusted to sit straight up for a military press, laid completely flat for sit ups and bench presses, or positioned somewhere in between for a variety of other exercises.
This bench is foldable, which makes it extremely easy to to move around the home, take with you on the go, and store when not in use. It even comes with a handle for convenient carrying. This isn't something that comes with every bench at this price point, so it's definitely a stand-out feature.
The seat and backrest of the Gymenist are made from comfortable padding that is covered in smooth fabric for easy cleaning and after-workout wipe downs. There are foam rollers for added ankle and leg support, which are covered in soft padding. It also comes with a free cushion for added back support.
Packaging & Assembly
The bench comes fully assembled, so just bring it out of the box and start using it. One thing I would recommend is to go through and tighten all of the nuts and bolts as these could have loosened during shipping.
Pricing Guide
Considering the comfort, adjustability, and added features like a free back pillow and quality foam rollers, you can't beat the price of this workout bench. If you're looking for the most affordable option, this is 100% one to consider.
However, it's important to note that a bench in this price range isn't as high in quality as a more expensive model. A perfect example of this is the fact that the Gymenist weighs just 30 pounds. Although the lightweight design is great for portability, it also means that lower quality steel was used to construct the frame. In comparison, pricier benches tend to weigh between 70-100 pounds.
My Experience Using The Gymenist Exercise Bench
Frame & Adjustability
Despite the great features of this exercise bench, it's built for beginners and intermediate weightlifters. The first indicator of this is the 600-pound weight capacity of the bench. More advanced (and more expensive) benches often have a weight capacity of 1000+ pounds.
That being said, 600 pounds is plenty for most people, so unless you're a professional power lifter or into some serious weight training, it shouldn't be a problem. Even when pushing my limits, I didn't notice any wobbling or shakiness of the frame, so I have no trouble believing that it can indeed handle 600 pounds.
The Gymenist exercise bench is light and foldable, which are 2 of the unique selling features. To have a foldable lightweight bench is ideal if you don't have a dedicated workout area, or you're workout area is limited to a small space. And because it's lightweight at about 30 pounds with a convenient carrying handle, it's easy to move.
The adjustability features of the back and seat are fairly standard. The back pad can be adjusted to 6 different positions and the seat to 3, so most people can find a comfortable adjustment based on their height and body type.
It's not the most seamless adjustment system I've seen; making each adjustment requires you to remove the pin, move the bench to the desired setting, and lock the pin back into place, which can take some time.
Comfort
Speaking of comfort, the Gymenist ranks fairly well in this department. The padding is firm, but not too firm, and the smooth fabric is very resistant to sweat and easy to wipe clean.
The foam rollers are another great comfort feature, and they did they're job of keeping the legs and ankles secure while lifting.
Gymenist includes a back pillow, which isn't a common addition even for high-end models. This pillow is easy to move, so no matter your height, you should be able to find a comfy spot for it.
Height & Weight Limitations
The only thing to note about weight limitations is that this is a bench that's best for beginner and intermediate lifters. The 600-pound capacity includes the weight of the user, so for someone who has a large body mass and can lift large amounts, it might be better to go with a model that has a capacity of 1000+ pounds.
